Take time to WRITE
In our everyday lives it's not always easy to find quiet time to step back, to be creative and mindful. Sometimes we need space and silence in a supportive environment. This is what Limnisa offers.

A unique and special location to be shared by all our friends- not only creative writers but artists and academics, people with a project in mind, and those seeking time to step back, re-evaluate or just think in a place that is calm and serene.
The house is on the edge of the shore, in an otherwise empty cove, with the most incredible views across the Saronic Gulf. From here you can see four islands and the mountains of the Peloponnese.

'Paradise' is an over-used term, but come and see for yourself.
Limnisa
is home to Mariël and Philip
When they found the house it was in a basic state but over the years they have renovated it and made a beautiful garden on several levels leading down to the sea. There are tamarisk trees and palm trees, hibiscus and bourganvillea. From the garden you can step out on a pebbly beach, go swimming in clear water, snorkel and watch the fishes.
The house is white with red roof tiles, with two bedrooms on the ground floor and three more leading off the wide, shaded roof terrace. There is ample living space both indoors and out, with covered terraces and pergolas, so you can always find pleasant places to sit, to get on with your work in peace or simply to look at the sea.
Round about are leafy olive groves, pine trees and giant boulders, backed by volcanic crags.

Writing with intent
and without distractions.
Start the day with an optional yoga class, enjoy breakfast out on the terrace and spend the morning in silence. Each room has a desk with a view. Better still find a shady bower down in the Limnisa garden and write to the sound of the sea. After lunch you can go back to work or take time for swimming and walking.

Limnisa has its own beach. The waters are perfect for snorkeling. The countryside round about is mountainous, wild and rugged, with mule tracks winding through olive groves.
Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are made up of good local produce, with Greek vegetarian recipes. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit are available through the day. Local wine, beer and soft drinks are provided at a small charge.

In the evenings, if you prefer, you can dine in a local taverna down by the waterfront in a village nearby (1 and 3km ) or go to Methana town by cab (10 km along the corniche).
We also hold evening events, giving guests the chance to read their work aloud and get some friendly feedback.

Sign up for a local excursion, perhaps to the sulphur baths, the volcano, the sunken city or a boat trip to one of the islands.

Accommodation is in the house or in a self contained studios nearby. We have a tent available for guests, just 3 meters from the sea.
Methana - Greece
Limnisa is near Agios Georgios village
on the Methana peninsula
Methana is an island but for a narrow ribbon of land connecting it to the mainland of the eastern Peloponnese. Ancient Mycenae and Epidavros are in easy reach by car, as well as the islands of the Saronic Gulf: Aegina, Angistri, Poros, Hydra and Spetses. Unlike these ‘real’ Greek islands, Methana has maintained its sense of separateness into the 21st century, remaining unspoilt and largely undeveloped. Its mountainous, volcanic landscape gives it a deep brooding quality that fits with the serious mood of people who want to concentrate and not be afraid to go deep…
The studios and apartment where some of our visitors stay are located in Agios Georgios. A typical small Greek village with a church, two tavernas open in summer and a small fishing harbour. For shops and a bank you must go to Methana town (a 15 minute - €14 taxi ride away). An ideal place to be quiet, to be close to nature and go for surprising wanders into olive groves and along the coast, Agios Georgios is a 15 minute walk or 7 minute bike ride from the main house. Bikes can be borrowed from us.
