Program


SATURDAY: 10am: pick up from Methana Port. 11am: coffee or cool drink and welcome at Limnisa. 12am-1.30pm: creative writing workshop. 2pm: Lunch. 3pm-4.30pm:break for swimming, relaxing, walking,etc. 4.30pm-7pm: creative writing workshop. 8pm: sunset view aperitif. 9pm: three course dinner with wine.

SUNDAY: 8am: breakfast. 9am-11am: creative writing workshop. 11am-11.30:break. 11.30am-1.30pm: creative writing workshop. 2pm: Lunch. 3pm: time to relax, write some more, go for a walk,etc. 6pm: last snack and goodbye.

The workshops are open to everyone who loves writing, however inexperienced, but will be serious and concentrated.The workshops will have as their main theme 'self editing your work'.



Location

Workshops will be held at Limnisa. On its terraces that look out over the Saronic Gulf, the islands of Angistri, Aegina and the eastern Peloponnese. Limnisa has its own beach, with loungers, and there are snorkels and flippers available for those who want to explore the water. It is also interesting to walk to the nearby village of Agios Georgios, with its church and fishing harbour or to wander in the old terraced olive groves where every tree is different and giant boulders are scattered over the landscape.


Tutor

Philip Wooderson has written many books for children, published by Scolastic, A & C Black and Oxford University Press. Two of his stories have been Guardian Children’s books of the week. His series of stories about ancient Egypt, the Nile Files, was used by the Times to promote the Tutenkhamun exhibition at the O2 centre in London and a new edition will be published by Franklin Watts in Spring 2008. He has also written two historical novels, 'Trouble at the Mill' and 'Plague' described as "a completely unique approach to historical fiction"; published by Kingfisher in the UK and US. He tutors creative writing days in schools and has talked at the Cheltenham Literary festival. He is presently working on a novel set in ancient Greece.

Easy access from Athens

BY SEA: Hellenic Seaways ferry from Piraeus Port (Gate 8 E) to Methana takes two hours and costs about 9 euros. You will be picked up from the harbour in Methana.


BY LAND: take Attiki Odos until Korinth and then take direction Epidavros. It is 200 km to Methana town. Mariel will send you an accurate itinerary.
