Sunday August 22 - Saturday August 28 (combine this week with our Writers Retreat)

Are you totally new to writing? Are you keen to get back to writing? Or are you an experienced writer seeking new inspiration? Then this course is for you.

-learn how to draw ideas out of your own subconscious

-use these ideas to shape stories

-find your own inner voice

-gain a deeper insight by writing from differing viewpoints

-make use of mistakes and slip-ups

-write from the heart, with conviction

If we can surprise ourselves we can surprise our readers.

KICK-START YOUR WRITING PROJECT!

 Sunday September 19 - Friday October 1st

(it is possible to do the first week only - ask info here )

Do you have a novel or memoir you've always been meaning to write? Come on our twelve day workshop and learn how to plot it and plan it.

In the first week we'll consider how to-

-get yourself started, deciding where to begin to gain the readers' interest

-create real characters able to walk off the page

-construct a page-turning plot

-make use of humour and tension

-write dialogue that's convincing

-build up towards a climax with a satisfying conclusion.

In the second week we'll move on to planning our personal projects, with daily seminars for-

-discussing an over view of what we hope to achieve

-fine-tuning our basic ideas to make a strong story line

-dividing our work into sections

-constructing chapter outlines

-committing ourselves to a time-scale for getting our first draft completed.

Participants will gain useful feedback from having their work discussed in the group. But as an optional extra, you are welcome to to book personal tutorials to discuss your work in more depth.

Available after the workshop -  Philip is able to offer you regular back-up on-line, reading work and making suggestions to strengthen your work in progress.
